Frequently asked questions

A quiz battle royale for school classes: up to 25 players face off in an arena, every hit starts a quiz duel, and whoever knows the most takes the crown.

Yes. Playing, all 3,039 questions and the rewards are free, and there are no ads. An optional Pass with more Sparks for the AI and extra items is planned; you don't need it to play.

Up to 25 in one lobby. Bots can fill up the arena, so a round also works for two players or on your own.

About 4 minutes in the arena: by then the zone has closed. After that the lobby can play on together.

The arena, seen from above like in Brawl Stars, with a zone that closes in. Plus the island, a 3D mode with jumping and a rising sea. The lobby picks the mode.

Only with a hit: hit an opponent with your plunger and it pulls you over to them, and the duel begins. A duel has three questions; right against wrong is a hit, a quick right answer a critical one.

The menu also opens without the internet. The arena and the island need a connection, because everyone plays together in a lobby.

The game and its questions are in English and German. The game follows your device's language, and you can switch it in the settings. In a lobby, everyone sees the general knowledge questions in their own language.

No. As a guest you play with a player name, without an e-mail address. Accounts with an e-mail address are available from 16; with one you can create your own quizzes, use the AI and add friends.

On first start the game asks for the month and year. All it stores, on your device only, is whether you are under 16 or at least 16. Under 16 you play as a guest, without an e-mail address and without the AI.

In the game under Settings. This deletes your account, your quizzes and your friendships. You can delete a guest account there too.

In the browser on computers, laptops, tablets and phones, the iPad included. You need a current browser with WebGL 2. The app for iPhone and iPad is coming.

On first start the browser loads about 37 MB. After that the game comes from the browser's cache and starts faster.

Often a filter in a school or company network blocks the connection. The game needs HTTPS and WebSockets over port 443 to play.studyroyale.app, *.supabase.co, *.unity.com and *.unity3d.com. A quick test on mobile data shows whether the network is the problem.

In the game under “My quizzes”: upload a photo, pictures, a PDF or a text, pick the number of questions and the difficulty, done. The AI writes 8 to 64 questions and names the quiz.

Sparks: 8 questions 30, 16 questions 50, 32 questions 80, 64 questions 120. A new account gets 250 Sparks, and 50 more come every day.

No. It goes to Microsoft Azure OpenAI in the EU, only for your quiz, and is never used for training. Only the finished questions are stored.

No. There is no free chat, only emotes. Player names, quiz names and lobby names go through a word filter.

Players can be reported and blocked. Whoever runs a lobby can remove players. Wrong questions can be reported too.

For guests a player name and the game progress; for accounts also the e-mail address and their own quizzes. There are no ads, no analytics companies and no advertising ID; how much is played, we only count ourselves (you can switch it off). Accounts and quizzes are stored with Supabase in the EU. Everything else is in the privacy policy.
